4Q Magazine Interviewed?

That’s right, recently 4Q found itself on the other end of the dictaphone. Vox Pop, is a national French magazine and they came over to find out what Manchester has to offer. Below is an extract of their finding!
Note: This is a straight translation, it may be unusual to read in places!
That would be Manchester without those which animate do the evenings and make live the music scene? Its fabric of impassioned, in the shade. One could have spoken to you about Islington Mill, old factory of Salford reconverted in studios of repetitions, coffee and room of concert, held by students. Or of High Voltage, a fanzine which organizes concerts and does not hesitate to program completely unknown groups. There is too Deaf Institute, with the live programming and clubbing irreproachable. This place is one second house for all Indies of corner.
Without forgetting Northern Quarter and its abundance of bars and gathered clubs on four blocks of houses where the festival In The City settled this year. The offer incredible, is fed by one population which never balks to put nose outside. With the turning of vagrancies in Night & Day in Nothern Quarter one meets Andrew “Jacko” Jackson, Michael “Smithy” Smith and Rob Pearson, of free musical magazine 4Q. Currently, the drafting works like a navvy with national launching scheduled for January. Its HQ, Antwerp Mansion, are a gallery for young artists and a concert hall. The house is immense, and it makes a cold Siberian in spite of the fire of chimney in dusty library which is used as meeting room. “Our drafting will remain based with Manchester but we are determined to accomodate in our pages a maximum collaborators through the country.
It is a true policy at 4Q, one asks all those which wish it to send to us articles or photographs. 4Q was born from one reflexion for a university project. The subject was: which business to go up to Manchester? ” Very quickly, the small team realizes that it who distinguishes Manchester from the other cities English, except its inheritance rock’n‘roll, pop and dance, is its culture coed. “One said oneself that had to be proposed a free magazine, near to the tastes of the students. The culture is completely asphyxiated by the tricks like X Factor and the weight of the farmhouses media. Then one imply yourself in the cultural life, one passes by springboards or the x-ray editorial ones for to make to buzzer groups which are not on a major. We want to show Manchester as a city which does not look at any more towards passed.
It is necessary to be honest: it occurs more things today to Manchester than at the time of Factory, even if the national mediums do not relay all. One counts a festival of music per week! There is creativity, initiatives. And then, community around music is very welded. The students are there for much.
