The Warehouse Project Announce New Year’s Day Party

by Michael Smith on 29.11.10

The Warehouse Project announces the line up for their spectacular WHP10 closing party on Saturday 1st January 2011, the final show in the 5th anniversary season. Deep house pioneer and techno stalwart Dubfire headlines, along US superstar Derrick Carter and WHP resident Jamie Jones, plus Crosstown Rebels’ Damian Lazarus and Berlin’s favourite Cassy are among the stellar cast of DJs. Announced to tie in with this week’s Ibiza closing parties, The Warehouse Project’s events are the ones that all Balearic isles revellers will be craving for after the sun of San Antonio.

The seminal event underneath Manchester Piccadilly Station, The Warehouse Project, which sees music fans from across the UK descend on the North West to pay homage to their favourite bands and DJs, has today announced its closing party for the WHP10 5th anniversary season of events. The WHP10 Closing Party on New Year’s Day, in association with Resident Advisor, offers a pulse-racing assembly of international talent set to conclude this year’s epoch-breaking series of parties taking place in Manchester at the now hallowed Store Street venue, one which has seen many shows already selling out and witnessed sensational three-night opening weekend.

Headliner Dubfire, known to his parents as Ali Shirazinia, made his name as one half of the four time nominated and Grammy Award winning duo, Deep Dish. Now a world class DJ in his own right his style has seen his sound move progressively from that of the hugely successful Deep Dish. Now one of the biggest names in techno and his widely revered Sci-Tech label, Dubfire’s New Year’s Day set will be the first time he returns to the UK following his landmark world tour to kick start the year in dazzling, bass reverberating style.

Flying in from the US especially for the event will be the underground dance music DJ and legendary producer Derrick Carter. One of the most talented spinners of his generation, DLC has covered the house spectrum from jackin’ to Chi-town, from deep to twisted and back again, always focussing his sets on anything with a groove, releasing a slew of tracks on labels including Magnetic and Igloo. New Year’s Day also sees two UK born artists who are making big waves in the electronic scene right now, WHP resident and one of the men of 2010 Jamie Jones.

Damian Lazarus, the man in charge of the groundbreaking Crosstown Rebels label, will also be providing WHP with a one-off set whilst keeping a close eye on his protégés Jones and US DJ and producer duo Soul Clap. The label is very much at the forefront of electronica today, pioneering the move away from the minimal scene into a deeper, fresher sound. Berlin-based Panorama Bar regular Cassy also takes to the decks. The line up also includes another outstanding female spinner of electronica, Heidi, along with WHP residents Krysko and Greg Lord rounding off their season, with the promise of more great names to be announced in the following weeks and months.
