What is best for winding down after a shit day at the office? David Cross talks to Fragile Audio, about their psychedelic music and why you want here of Simon Cowell knocking on their door.

MOST bands hand their talents over to fat cats of the music industry. Fortunately, some bands, like Fragile Audio prefer to keep their artistic integrity. These guys won’t be selling their artistic licence anytime soon.

As a band from Salford, Fragile Audio has been working the circuits of local Manchester for quite some time their well earned reputation. Matt Gough, 28, lead singer and songwriter for the band said, ‘We have done about ten gigs in the past five or six weeks – and we have played all over Manchester.’

Sweat and bloody good music talents have gained the band air time on the radio and recognition that ventures beyond the North West.

Lend your ear to this band on their dedicated night at the Thirsty Scholar and you’ll get a taste of what this group has to offer. Instrumentally the band works in perfect harmony, the Fragile Audio doesn’t do the thrashing and crashing that constitutes many bands as a musical mess. Fragile Audio lives up to its name performing as a melodic gateway to mind meditation, basically winding you down after a shit day at the office.

Matt said, ‘Our music is psychedelic. It’s a very dreamy style – like you’re floating.’
One of their most popular songs called “Am I Wise?” which is reminiscent of Bloc Party, with the displays a certain self-reflection on life which is a good example of their reverie style. But the track that has won the hearts of their fans is “Scaramanga”, a song concerning “life and relationships.”

Despite the bands popularity, Fragile Audio will never belong in the hands of a large music corporation. This musical baby is just to be nursed by the group and the group alone. Matt said, ‘We don’t go for big record companies. We just want to keep doing what we are doing. We want to make it on our own – without promoters.

‘We are sick of record labels charging too much. We had a go at trying to get signed for a while and realised it.’

In retaliation Fragile Audio is in the transition of bringing their own record label out. ‘All you rip off promoters you’d better watch out coz we’re bringing our own record label.’ Matt warns. With the beauty of being cost free and additional bonus of total control maybe all bands should jump aboard the wagon.

Anyone who feels like kicking backing and letting some tranquil vibrations wash over them might do well to give this group a try.
