The Hayley Faye Band
Listen Up!

The Hayley Faye band, a dynamic “indie folk” trio with a self confessed fetish for converse and world domination.
Hailing from Manchester the band has gone strength to strength since being formed roughly a year ago by their quirky leading lady Haley Faye.
“I just got on with writing really, then Surbia Records talked about building the sound up with a band and that’s it basically”
Teaming up with the bassist Andy shortly after, before poaching drummer Dan from the (Granby Rollers)?
“I actually went to a lot of their gigs and was very impressed by his drumming and thought, I could do with trying to steal him, secretly there was a plan hatching…”
After touring around Manchester and as far afield as the Castle in London for a year the trio have really gelled together to create a refreshing change from the usual indie scene with generic front women squeaking and squawking shrill notes, with an altogether more energetic, almost rebellious sound with a subtle hint of folk that sends you back to the good ol’ days.
But where did this all stem from? A slightly embarrassed Hayley tells us..
“… The Beetles, my dad introduced me to them. And I hated them to begin with, I thought what’s all this about…, but after listening to them properly I loved the sounds and the harmonies. I think a lot of my influences are from the 60’s and 70’s.”
With their first video for their new song “Baby Sleep Mode” which is released on the 27th of April,
“The shoot was interesting, yeah defiantly interesting! We went in with a storyboard for the video, but that went out the window, until we ended up being told just to dance around. And It surprised me how hard it is to mime, I’m just glad we didn’t have to mime the drums!”
“We were shooting next door to the Ting Tings as well! Their so small it’s amazing, really short, they’re like kids!”
“Didn’t recognise them at first, I thought “who are these little people? It doesn’t help that Andy’s a giant; we had to shoot our video in perspective so he wouldn’t dwarf us.
So what’s next?
“World domination! Did I really just say that?”
“Well hopefully the video will go down well and we’ll get some exposure and maybe get some festival slots for the summer, that’s our ambitions for this year.”
Hopefully with festival season setting in, the Hayley Faye band will continue to grow into public eye and wow crowds across the UK with their constantly evolving, brand of feel good music, and be sure to watch out for their new video at http://www.myspace.com/hayleyfaye.
